Picture tubes from TV's and computer monitors are considered
hazardous waste in California because of their high lead
content. As a hazardous waste, they require special handling.
It is illegal to dispose of them in municipal landfills.
Devices containing picture tubes may be recycled at various
locations in Butte County or Neal Road Landfill for free.
Picture tubes do not need to be removed from cabinet before
drop-off. Many of these locations will take other electronic
waste items. It is a good idea to call first before you
take other items to any of these locations.
